What CP44 means when booking an inspection
CP44 identifies a safety check form for mobile catering vehicles and trailers in the CORGI form range. It records an inspection of the unit and its gas equipment; the reference alone does not tell us which appliances you have or which checks your installation needs.

Who may ask for mobile catering gas safety evidence?
Check the requester's document rules before reserving an inspection date. Ask whether they specify a form, a maximum age for the record, particular appliances or separate supporting evidence. Passing a gas inspection does not itself grant a trading pitch, insurance cover or permission to operate.

Operating arrangement
How the unit is set up and used, including LPG storage, generator interaction and practical access to controls.
Record and findings
The paperwork should identify the vehicle or trailer, inspection date, engineer and appliances examined, together with results, defects and anything that could not be checked.
The quotation should identify the required gas tightness and other safety checks, including ventilation or interlock checks where relevant. Request servicing, repairs, purging, extraction maintenance or a specialist ventilation assessment separately if needed. Agreeing these boundaries does not remove safety checks necessary for the installation.

Unit and LPG details
Identify the vehicle or trailer and any recent conversion work. List connected and spare appliances separately, together with the LPG cylinders, regulator and changeover arrangement.
Photos and access
Clear photos of the cylinders, regulator, pipework and appliance layout, plus vehicle height, parking, keys, gates or site restrictions.
Deadline and paperwork
The trading or event date, who is requesting the record, their exact wording and any separate PAT, fire or electrical documents.

What is a CP44 gas safety certificate?
In a mobile catering enquiry, CP44 usually refers to the vehicle or trailer safety check form in the CORGI range. A completed record documents the inspection findings for the identified unit and equipment. Confirm the document format with Upkeepone and the organisation requesting it before booking.
Is a CP44 certificate a legal requirement for every food truck?
Catering operators have duties to maintain gas equipment safely and use competent people for gas work. Those duties do not prescribe one form called CP44 for every food truck. An organiser or insurer may nevertheless require that record under its own conditions, so distinguish their document request from the underlying safety duties.
Who can carry out a mobile catering LPG inspection?
The attending engineer needs current Gas Safe registration covering LPG mobile catering and the appliances being inspected. Ask to check the individual's ID card and relevant work categories. A general LPG qualification or experience with fixed catering premises does not, by itself, establish suitability for a vehicle or trailer.
Will my organiser accept the CP44 record?
Acceptance is the organiser's decision. Confirm the required format, inspection date, appliance list and any accompanying documents with them before booking. Upkeepone can review the request when scoping the visit, but cannot promise pitch approval or acceptance by every venue or insurer.
What should I send for a CP44 quote?

Unit complexity, access, travel and the agreed checks affect the quotation; repairs and additional visits are priced separately.
Does a CP44 inspection include fire extinguishers and electrical testing?
A gas inspection should not be treated as a complete fire or electrical compliance package. Fire extinguishers, fire blankets, PAT, EICR or other event documents need to be requested and scoped separately if the organiser requires them.
What happens if the mobile catering LPG setup fails the inspection?
The record must show the findings, including defects, restrictions and any checks left incomplete. Follow the engineer's instructions and any warning notice about unsafe equipment. Ask what remedial work and further checks are needed; a new satisfactory result cannot be assumed until those matters have been resolved and assessed.
