Trade registration and contractor checks
The registration that matters is the one relevant to your property, the work requested and the person or business taking responsibility for it.
Before booking, ask who will attend, which business will issue the report or certificate, and how their competence and registration cover the proposed work. A familiar logo on its own does not answer those questions.

Start with the correct company and job
Upkeepone is the trading name customers see, while Cenultra Limited is the registered company behind it. Companies House currently records Cenultra Limited as active, company number 07917920, with its registered office in Chelmsford. A company record confirms legal identity; it is not evidence that every trade activity or engineer is covered by the same registration.
The next step is to identify the actual work. A landlord gas check, commercial catering inspection, domestic electrical report and commercial fixed-wire inspection need different experience and may involve different registration categories. Where another contractor will attend, ask who employs or appoints them, who issues the paperwork and who deals with questions afterwards.
Check credentials against the service required
Gas work
Gas work must be matched to the appropriate Gas Safe registration. Check the business and attending engineer on the official Gas Safe Register, including the work categories for the appliance and fuel. Domestic natural gas, commercial catering and LPG are not interchangeable descriptions.

Electrical work
Ask who will inspect or install, which business will issue the document and which qualifications and experience apply. The Electrical Competent Person register covers registered domestic installers and electrical safety report providers in homes in England and Wales. A domestic listing does not, by itself, describe competence for every commercial inspection.
Use the domestic EICR service or commercial EICR service for job-specific information.
Other specialist work
Some services use their own registration, certification or competence routes. Ask which requirement applies to the exact task and whether it belongs to the company, the attending person or both. Check the current record with the organisation that maintains it rather than relying on an old badge or an unrelated category.

What to establish before confirming an appointment
- The contracting business: the legal or trading name shown on the quotation and invoice.
- The attending person: who will carry out the inspection, testing, installation or repair.
- The relevant scope: how qualifications and any registration relate to the appliance, fuel, installation and premises.
- The document: which business will issue it and what areas, circuits or appliances it will cover.
- Insurance: current evidence for the business or contractor responsible, where your landlord, insurer or procurement process requires it.
- Follow-up: who will explain findings, handle a query and quote any additional work separately.
Do not treat registration as a guaranteed pass or proof that every part of a property has been assessed. The report or certificate must reflect the inspection performed and its recorded scope and limitations.
